This is a superb antique L&Jg Stickley large Morris chair from the early 1900’s Mission and Arts & Crafts period in very good condition.
The piece is made of superb quarter sawn oak with an original finish with thinness at the arms from normal use.
The piece has superb, bulky form with paddle arms that are 1″ thick and 7″ wide.
The arms have pinned through tenons at the front and back and are also corbeled at the front and back.
The front seat rail has a distinctive bevel and there are arched supports under the arms.
The back has its original brace and the piece is double pinned at the bottom.
The posts feature quadrilinear construction as pictured.
The upholster is high quality leather over the original spring seat.
The chair is unmarked but is certainly L&JG Stickley and is a rare and unique collectible.
