This is an interesting and rare filing cabinet made and signed by Amberg from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s in original condition.
The piece came right out of a silk factory owned by F.Q. Hartman in Danville, Pa in the 1910’s to 1920’s.
Most of the papers have dates from 1915 and 1916 and the metal hardware states a patent from September 24, 1878.
There are 10 file drawers with original indices as pictured.
The sides and back are panelled and the finish is original with an excellent patina.
Pictured is a postcard sent in 1916 that contains and article that appeared in a trade magazine with biography of Hartman the silk trader.
Also pictured is a file cabinet full of period business documents from approximately 1915 including patents, insurance records, merchandise orders, etc.
The piece is extremely heavy for its size and is a great piece of history in original condition.
