Description
We have many morris chairs at our shop and we have also sold many more, but this chair is the earliest and the rarest Gustav Stickley morris chair that he made!
The chair is in pristine condition with the original finish and original color.
There is some minor wear to the finish from normal use over a hundred years.
The chair is model number 2340 from 1901 and this model has a shorter, wider, and bulkier corbel that other models. (See Pictures)
The main difference with this morris chair is the bow arms that sit on top of reverse-tapered legs.
The chair has a double through tenon and pinned construction on each arm.
The chair has the original faceted pegs and it also has an early red 1901 decal under the arm.
All four feet are beveled and it is the original height, they are not worn down at all.
The size of this chair is very proportional and it is very comfortable to sit in!
The seat and back cushion have been recovered with a top quality black hand-rubbed leather filled with cotton and hair. (Not Cheap Foam)
The seat is on top of a cotton webbing and not cheap plywood like you see most dealers use.
We use a very high-quality leather from Germany and if you compare our seats to the other dealers you will see the difference.
We try and make the furniture as time period correct as we can and also we make the seats very comfortable. This chair is sturdy and strong with no repaired or replaced parts and they are ready to be used in your home or business.

These chairs are from 1901, the construction and quality are not the same to any other Morris chair by Gustav Stickley.
Gustav Stickley stopped to make this m chairs quality like this one after 1901 most likely due to cost to make them. The legs tapered by 1/2 inch from top to bottom.
We also have and sold later period of the same model chair and with prices of $2500 and up and you can see a few of them on our website .joenevo.net, we see.
We see all the time lately fake furniture listed as Stickley and you can see from images they are reproduction made by Stickley Audi in NY State in the last 20-30 years and now making mostly in Vietnam or by woodworkers from Vietnam.
For your info, Gus Stickley died on around 1946. We know many people do not like you know that.
